Not MY Delivery!

This is a long-ish post about the devastating news I recently received that changed my entire birth plan.

Here is the beautiful drawing I created as my birth plan for delivering this August. Unfortunately, none of this will happen as I am not allowed to deliver vaginally. My DR thought it would be beneficial for me to have an MRI to test for a neurological disorder that runs in my family.

I had no worries b/c I knew it would come back negative. Right? WRONG! It came back positive; I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type I. This means my cerebellar tonsils are herniating down through my magnum foramen.

Therefore pushing during labor could cause too much pressure, resulting in a seizure, deeper herniation, and even death. Although I was bummed about being scheduled for a c-section, it was not so bad b/c at least Jake and I could experience this wonderful time together. I later learned that I cannot receive neither an epidural or a spinal, as those also pose too many risks for my condition. So now I’m forced to get general anesthesia during my c-section, which means Jake cannot be present for the baby’s birth. He may not be able to cut the umbilical cord and I will not be able to nurse the baby, as a result of the anesthesia.

On to better news:

We are officially hospital and baby ready! The bags are packed, clothes are washed, and the nursery is complete. All that is left is to sanitize bottles the week before baby arrives and install the car seat next week. We are also having our carpet professionally cleaned but that is not as exciting.

And How is that Little One?

Baby is doing great! Gaining so much weight; coming in at an astounding 6 lbs and 5 oz. This means the baby is measuring in the 85th percentile, 🙂

Pic 1 shows the baby’s adorable face, although s/he is blocking the view b/c s/he is obviously tired of taking photos. Or maybe the baby is just being dramatic. Pic 2 shows the “fat rolls” the baby accumulated over the past few weeks. We are so grateful this little one is doing well and gaining a lot.

And here is the most beautiful 3D ultrasound of the baby at 35 weeks and 4 days old. One upside to the c-section is that we know the exact date the baby will come. We are now just 22 very short days away.

Arriving:

How’s Baby Anyway?!

Believe it or not, we are 54 very short days from meeting this little bundle of joy!

Baby:

Everything is going and great and progressing right along. We decided to hold off on posting until we had more very cute pics to share! The good news is, we just had an appointment this week, therefore, we do have new pics to share!

A little profile of this sweet kid.

We found out this little chunker is measuring 10 days ahead of schedule. (Coming in at a whopping 4 lbs!) And the little one is already head down. We meet with the DR again next week for another routine visit. Since we are nearing the end of this portion of our journey, our visits will become more frequent.

Mama and Papa:

Jake and I are doing great, just wrapping up things around the house and at work, as we prepare to welcome the little one. We have bought all the baby necessities and essentials. Now we just need to start packing our bags, install the carseat, wash the clothes, and sterilize the bottles.

We have completed our baby care class and started our weekly birthing classes, which have been very informative. We have narrowed down the list of potential baby names.

We have even found out the gender! (Well… Jake has.)

The chunkiest cheeks in all the land!

Now just look at this cute wittle face!! We are dying to meet this kid. Stay tuned.

Born A Fan: The Announcement!

Happy May!

I hope you are having an amazing day, like I am. So last month I posted a picture of some of my favorite baby items that we have gotten so far. And today, I would like to tell you about one of my absolute favorite brands for baby!

And what brand is that? The Honest Company, of course!

Below is a (FREE) trial size bundle of some of their most popular products, that I will most definitely be using on the little one.  Not only are these products effective, but they are eco-friendly and free of harmful chemicals. So to me, it is a no-brainer. Their products are also backed by their Honestly Free Guarantee, which you can read about here.

But Guess what? Just when you thought this company could not do any better, they did it. Introducing their new collection of MLB Diapers:

MLB-Dugout-nocopy

These diapers are full of swag, not chemicals, and will have your little one dressed to impress!

Like, it seriously does not get any cuter than this. These diapers are great for the whole family; mom can use them knowing she is not harming her little one and dad can use them because he loves the team.

Giants

Even if you are not a huge MLB fan, you will definitely find a pattern that you love because they offer so many prints. Click here to see their entire line of fabulous diapers.

RedSox

And what is the best part of their entire line of diapers? Two things actually; 1. The fact that the diapers are not only cute, but they are also sturdy, durable, yet disposable. And 2. The fact that you can order in bundles! (This means you will not be making midnight trips to the supermarket because you ran out of diapers.

Counting Down: 124 Days To Go!

Whew!

It seems unreal that this pregnancy is almost over, as I am officially over halfway done. (I am 22 weeks and 2 days.) I guess its true when they say: “time flies when you’re having fun.” 🙂

This pregnancy has been so unique for multiple reasons. Well, for starters, I only recently started to “feel” pregnant. As I mentioned before, I have literally had zero morning sickness. Not to mention a lack of basically all other signs. If it were not for seeing this little baby during ultrasounds and the recent movements, I would probably be in denial.

So much stuff has changed since the last post:

Us: We actually saw the little one moving for the first time. (At our first ultrasound the baby was sleeping so there was not much to see.) However, this time was the total opposite. This baby was moving all over the screen, making faces (pictured above!), and I am pretty sure the baby even cried at one point during the ultrasound. (Sounds weird, I know.)

Me: I also feel like I am starting to show a tiny bit, although no one else notices lol. And I just got a brand new job and I am so excited to start because it’s a full-time position with great benefits and… I will actually be using my first degree.

Jake: He knows the gender of the baby! Initially, we wanted the gender to be a surprise but the morning of he decided he wanted to know, so the ultrasound tech gave him an envelope containing a pic and the gender. And trust me, despite numerous attempts to find out – from multiple family members, his lips are sealed. (However, I am pretty sure I know the sex based on his reaction.)

My Favorite Baby Finds:

Above are some of the pics we have taken since the last post, including some great things we have found for baby.

  1. Adorable diapers we got free from the Honest Company trial. Not only are these natural but they are waayyy cuter than the standard disposable diapers.
  2. “The Bump” which is the pregnancy bullet journal that I started as another way to track progress, name ideas, baby class schedules, etc. This is pretty cool because Jake and I both write entries about appointments and current feelings surrounding the baby.
  3. An awesome Foo Fighters shirt from Target that we got for super cheap. Now I actually did not know who they were but apparently, it’s a music group that Jake fancies. (They made a song called “Hero” that I love but had no idea they made it.) Ps… Jake obviously picked this out.
  4. A little unique outfit we found at H&M (also very cheap!), which we may bring baby home in. But it depends if I find a more gender specific outfit that is cuter, lol.
  5. An awesome picture of the cutest baby ever making a frowning face, as Jake often does. I will have to remember to post a side by side pic of those two because it is remarkable how the baby already takes after Jake.
  6. An old but great pic of the little one hanging out.

I look forward to updating you as more stuff happens during the journey.

Scrapbooking for Baby!

wp-1488746153901.jpg

Hey!

I’m so excited to share one of the cute things we have started this pregnancy. It is a scrapbook! Background: this actually started as our relationship scrapbook; I started creating pages to record various milestones in our relationship. (I have a page for our first birthdays together, our first car/apartment, etc.)

Since learning about baby, we decided to switch gears so this little one can have a little keepsake about its parents and our life before baby.

The Page:

This page just simply explains our lives and hobbies before we met each other. Next, there is a little section that explains things we enjoy doing together, once we started dating. I intentionally created two different backgrounds for our pics, to show how opposite we are, LOL. I also used different fonts for our headers, on our personal sections. As you can see, Jake was such a sweetie and helped with the page. He added in his own handwriting, for authenticity (wink, wink), and he also helped give me ideas for the page’s layout.

BONUS: Scrapbooking Tips:

  1. Keep it simple, especially if you are a beginner, like me.
  2. Get inspired, look online to find resources and ideas. (IG, Pinterest, etc.)
  3. Use themed pages, this helps you create an organized piece of work.
  4. Have fun! Everything requires practice, so do not get upset if your 1st book is not perfect.
  5. If it is too stressful, pay someone else to make it. (Like Shutterfly!)

Baby Talk:

Pregnancy is still going well, thank God. (No, literally. Thank God!) Tune in for the 16th week update, coming soon. Ps… I want to wait until the week is officially over, the pics are taken, and we have some good content! So pretty please come back. 🙂

Until Next Time, C. L

A Grand Adventure is About to Begin…

One of my favorite pictures, from our “announcement shoot.”

It is with great honor, that we share our great big news: We are having a baby!

We could not be more excited or anxious to embark upon this journey.

That means that I will officially be switching the “theme” of this blog.

I will focus on my pregnancy.

So let me get you guys up to speed:

We are currently 14 weeks and 5 days so baby is due August 19, 2017!

We do not know the gender but plan to find out soon.

So far I have not had ANY morning sickness. (Knock on wood.)

In fact, I feel great and I have been able to carry on as my normal self.

We have already bought so much cute stuff, and I cannot wait to share them with you.

So Happy to End 2016 Bc…

This has been the longest year in my life, no …not literally, but you get it.

So lets see… I had three miscarriages, which no one knows about. (Except Jake, of course). And even though they were not “terrible” I definitely affected myself, my relationship, and Jake. I am just happy to leave these things behind. Soon after my OB told us we could not have children and that we should look into infertility treatments. Seriously? Im not even 25! Boy was I pissed. So anyways, yeah. I am happy to leave that in 2016.

On the up side, I went back to school for Nursing and it is going great. (4.0 great, *wink*). I am looking and applying for some new jobs, related to healthcare and I am excited to be moving forward.

We also bought (another) brand new car. Its a 2016 Chevy Equinox. It is super cute and a good size for us but it isn’t so great on gas.

I unintentionally abandoned this blog b/c I just could not keep up with it. But the good news is that I have an exciting announcement coming January 2017 and the hint is that is involves the future of this blog. Until then, I will be updating everything here and messing around with some designs. I hope to gain back my old followers and also get some new ones before the announcement.

TTYL.
